While in NY on one of his trips to seek out killer podcasts for all of the NJLBS listeners, Nick was once again hanging out at King's Ave and got know this week's guest, Mr. Ben Proudman. Well, Ben made it down to Alley Cat from up in Frederick, MD and got to hang out in the NLJBS studios and have a wild and interesting conversation with Nick about all kinds of things, some of them involving tattoos, of course. It's a great time and it's followed up with yet another awesome Shop Talk with your friends Andrew and Porter. Enjoy.

Thanks to everyone who called in this time for the 5th installment of the NLJBS Hotline and shared their tattoo shop stories. Also, Nick lets us know who the winner of the quick contest is. Enjoy.

Mar 7, 2023

Though she tattoos at Mercy in Salt Lake City these days, Marina always spends time back in VA at Absolute Art in Richmond and that's where Nick had a chance to catch up with the world travelling killer tattoo artist. It's a great episode detailing lots of great tattoo talk centering around Marina's travels and the great artists she's had the pleasure of working with before transitioning into the powerful journey that she recently embarked on and everything involved in that experience with some crazy surprises thrown in. It's an all around great episode followed up by an excellent new edition of Shop Talk. Don't miss it.

Feb 21, 2023

Friend of the show and the shop and excellent tattooer Drake came to the NLJBS studios at Alley Cat Tattoo in Harrisonburg VA to hang out with Nick and Alley Cat's Jake Hockman and shoot the shit for a while. It's an excellent tattoo journey that you get to join as stories are told from all sides and encompassing many years of tattoo history. It's a fun episode you don't want to miss. Currently known as TX Drake on IG, our guest is about to embark an overseas journey that is going to be amazing. Listen to find out more.

It's time once again to play a few messages from the ol' Hotline. There are some great ones this time. It really is becoming a great way to quickly share your tattoo stories forever without sitting down to record a several hours episode. Give it a try. You'll like it. Or just reply, repute or reimagine one you've already heard on here. The sky's the limit on Hotline. Enjoy.

Feb 7, 2023

Longtime friend of the show and Alley Cat, Mr. Alex Lee hangs with Nick for a few hours and a few drinks as they bust out some of the classic stories of the last twenty years or so in Harrisonburg and even throw in a few new ones. The discussion kicks off with some fun whiskey talk. It's a great time, so enjoy.

It's been a while, so Uncle Dave dropped by the NLJBS studios for a little welfare check on ya homie Nick. And man, what a hangout this is. More old school stories reminiscing about the past in lockup and out of it. Music, friendship, family, and lots of talk about words you should and shouldn't say. This is just a good ol' time hanging out with some cool ass folks. You don't want to miss it. No Shop Talk this time due to lots goin' on, but we had a nice run there tryin' to get it kickstarted again. We'll talk tats with you again soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the wisdom of Uncle Dave.

This is a detailed layin' down of the stories around the most recent two trips to NYC that Nick took, one with Chris "Big Tats" Porter and the other with Jake "Rookie" Hockman. It's a big long hangout detailing all of the characters and locations that were visited on these two recent epic travels and all of the mystery and history surrounding them. Just a fun hangout at the NLJBS studios located right next door to the one and only Alley Cat Tattoo in Harrisonburg, Virginia. There's a killer shop talk attached as well and throughout these kickass three hours or more you'll also get to hear from the workhorse Richie Stutler and the man who needs no introduction: Andrew Conner. Hell yeah. Enjoy this shit.

Dec 27, 2022

Will Lollie returns to NLJBS after a long time. Go back and listen to hear tales of tatooing and getting started, but tune in to this very episode to get weird. During their visit up north to Kings Ave. for Porter to do a guest spot, he and Nick got to sit down with Will and record some wild and wildly interesting talks with Will. It's a great time, so check it out and keep on listening.

Dec 20, 2022

Here we go: It's the third Hotline episode ready to go for ya on the off-week. We've got some calls for Nick asking questions about the show or just tellin' some good stories. Give it a call and be on the next one!

Dec 13, 2022

On the most recent trip to NY for Porter to work at King's Ave. Nick gets the chance to sit down with none other than Crazy Stevie Wells and have some killer conversation and a lot of drinks. This episode will teach you all kinds of stuff and present to you some killer old stories about the history of New York tattooing and bar etiquette. It's a wild one, so check it out. Enjoy some Shop Talk with Nick, Porter and Andrew as well. Hell yeah.

Nov 29, 2022

Jimmy P is touring with the band Lucero right now and they all happened to find themselves in the Friendly City of Harrisonburg, Virginia. You've heard Jimmy on the last few Shop Talks so now you get to hear the episode that led up to that guest appearance. There's a lot of great tattoo history and punk rock musical history discussed on this one, so we know you're gonna love it. And now we're keepin' it going with the Shop Talks, so stick around afterward to join up with Andrew and Porter to discuss amazing tats.

Nov 15, 2022

While attending the Aachen, Germany Kaiserstadt Tattoo Expo recently, Nick got the chance to sit down with German tattoo artist Alex Reinke for a while and it was an incredible conversation. Alex has a shop in London, but was attending the convention and the stories and topics ran real deep on this one. Lots of intense tales of tattoo journeys and love and a big dose of opinions and laughs to go right along with the serious bits. You're not gonna want to miss out on this one. There's even another edition of Shop Talk with Andrew and Porter to follow the episode. Those are always fun, so enjoy.

Nov 1, 2022

Henk "Hanky Panky" Schiffmacher has been tattooing longer than most of us involved in the show have been alive. While attending the Kaiserstadt Tattoo Expo in Aachen, Germany at the invitation of the wonderful Mr. Andreas Coenen, Nick had the opportunity to do his first ever podcast with a live studio audience. It was a brilliant experience as it was with the one and only Hanky Panky. It's an interesting, winding, often diverging story of history and family and the state of tattooing and there's even a Red Hot Chili Pepper or two thrown in for good measure. All in all, this is a fascinating episode that not only you won't want to miss, but you'll be longing to travel to Amsterdam and visit this legend in his shop.

Oct 18, 2022

If you've been a fan of the show for a while you already recognize the name on this episode: Candi Kinyobi. She has appeared on Shop Talks early on and has even done a killer design for the NLJBS merch stack. Her longsleeve tees were a huge hit, and the stickers we made from her design were super sweet as well. And speakin' of Shop Talk, it's the triumphant return of the beloved spot on this very episode! After hearing Nick and Candi talk tats, food and families, you'll hear the re-emergence of Andrew and Porter to talk about sick tattoos that you'll want to see and there's even a special guest tat commentator: Jimmy P. This is a great one, so y'all enjoy.

Oct 4, 2022

Stewart Robson is the owner of Modern Classic Tattoo in London, England with his wife, Valerie Vargas. Those two names are legendary and it's an honor to have him on the show for a few hours talking tattoos and how he got into everything. There was an intro for this, but something happened to it and Josh just got back from Vegas and it's almost six a.m. and well, there are songs and stuff on there at least, so pay attention to Nick's and NLJBS's instagram and find out what the fuck and keep on listenin' and we sure appreciate y'all. Enjoy. This one is long and it kicks ass.

Sep 21, 2022

In preparation for the flight to Germany, Nick went up to New York City on a plane with Alley Cat's Jake Hockman and got to record with some folks. Nick Coella was one of them. Straight outta Chicago, Coella is the kind of guy that makes the storytelling easy and you don't want to miss a second of it. You're gonna enjoy this as much as Nick did. Both of them.

Sep 6, 2022

For over fifty years, Richie Montgomery has been involved in our world of tattooing and he's still going strong. Nick has been trying to get him on the show for years now and one thing after another has postponed the sit down. You'll hear all about why, but more importantly you finally get a few hours with this highly respected veteran of the game. You got to hear him for a bit on the recent Asbury Park Convention Roundtable discussion with some other greats, but this is the one where you really get the great stories and legendary tales. No further introduction needed, you're gonna enjoy this.

Aug 30, 2022

Nick talks about some calls on the NLJBS Hotline. Not a full episode, but a little something fun for the off week. Keep on callin' in and we'll keep droppin' these.

Aug 23, 2022

Adam Jeffrey has been around and seen some shit in his long time in the tattoo industry and he's here on NLJBS to talk with Nick and tell him some stories from his days in the game. There's a ton of overlap with some of what you've heard Nick talk about in the past and it makes this a super fun episode with zero down time. Adam tattoos at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum often, but also spends tome time down in VA with our good friends Annette and Steve over at Electromagnetic Tattoo. You've heard them on the podcast in the past too. This is a great episode with lots of classic tattoo industry talk. Don't miss it.

Aug 11, 2022

Nick finally gets to sit down and bullshit with John Henry Gloyne after years of waiting to have him back on the show. The entire crew from Serpent & the Rainbow Tattoo out of Asheville, NC came up to Alley Cat as the very first stop on their shop road trip. Everyone had a blast and yeah, they might have been feelin' the effects of the previous night of both crews partyin' but you'd never know when you hear the excellent stories that get laid down here. We know it's killin' some of y'all with the every other week shit, so we hate to have had to delay this even a few more days. But Josh is back after an emergency trip out of town, the entire crew is back and recharged after Pagoda, and we've got some more killer episodes on the way in the near future. So keep listenin' and keep enjoyin'!

Jul 26, 2022

Nick was scheduled to attend the 2022 Asbury Park Tattoo Fest in New Jersey this year, but he was not able to make it. Instead, Alley Cat's own Sara Pennington made the trip and was able to record a legendary round table discussion with some true legends of tattooing.  For the first hour of this episode, you'll get to hear stories from Sailor Eddie, Mike Schweigert, Rich Montgomery, Gordon "Wrath" McCloud and Robert Ryan. With almost 200 years combined experience between them, you won't want to miss this. Then, to make things even better, the NLJBS Shop Talk crew has gotten the band back together! Yes, Andrew Conner and Chris Porter join Nick to discuss the legendary talk and what it means for tattooing. Richie Stutler and Jake Hockman join in the talk as well and you won't want to miss what all five of them have to say. Don't skip this episode.

Jul 12, 2022

The entire crew from Serpent and the Rainbow Tattoo in Asheville, NC hit the road and their first stop was Alley Cat Tattoo in H-Burg, VA. The first voice we get to hear from these great guys is Nick Hall, and after sitting down with NLJBS Nick for over two hours, you get some great stories that more than make up for our first week off in years. We hope the new release schedule isn't too disappointing for y'all. But the quality is just going to keep getting better as we hit you with these next few after the amazing Nikki Balls episode 300, and we sail on into next month with Pagoda. We certainly hope that you will continue to enjoy and hang out with us. Let us know what's up on the HOTLINE!

Jun 28, 2022

Three Hundred Episodes - Hell yeah. And who better to celebrate with than the oft requested Nikki motha fuckin' Balls. That's right, Nick finally met up with Nikki up at the Key City Tattoo Convention this weekend and when you hear it, you'll probably think that they'll just host the next three hundred together they go over so many things that they could've kept going ad infinitum. Nikki tattoos up in the DC / MD area at Tattoo Paradise and Orange Tattoo and she's got some excellent and harrowing stories. If you know her name, you know what I mean. Well it's all laid out here with a ton of Nick's big mouth thrown in. Thank y'all for being around for three hundred of these. Keep on listenin'.

Jun 21, 2022

Nick sits down with some whiskey and takes a call-in from the one and only Justin Weatherholz to discuss the upcoming Pagoda City Tattoo Festival in Morgantown, PA. Veteran of the show and great friend, Weatherholz needs no introduction. He's been putting on this amazing show for years now and it is always unforgettable. Things will be fire this year as the Alley Cat crew all head up north to attend. There should be a wealth of new episodes to come out of it. There's a lot of great talk in this one between some great friends, so if you missed the IG Live around this time, give this one a listen. And look for all of us at Pagoda in August. Enjoy.
