Get ready for some bluegrass and all around excellent music and storytelling from two awesome ladies. Molly Murphy is in the band The Judy Chops, from Harrisonburg and if you haven't heard of them you should definitely check them out. Lizzie Cahalin was back in Rocktown for the holidays, but appeared on an earlier NLJBS episode with Troutmouth if you wanna go find it first. It's a great time with great talk and tunes. Hope you enjoy the last episode of 2021. We're hanging in there and bringing you the bullshit.

Dec 21, 2021

It's an Alley Cat Crew extravaganza just in time for the holidays. Nick chills out at the NLJBS studios with Andrew and Porter, Trevor hangs out a while, Richie and Jake are in on the fun. Sara and Kate couldn't make it for this one and Bethany was holdin' down vape town, but Maddie was back in the 'Burg and makes an appearance. It's just a good old fashioned, drinks on the front porch, shoot the shit session of tall tales and twisted times. Lots of great stories, some told before, the usual bullshit. You know what to expect. So sit back and enjoy and have a great time with your families or whatever you do, and we'll see y'all back here just before New Year's. Excellent.

Dec 14, 2021

After our little setback last week, episode 273 is now and probably forever the mythical lost episode with Dave Capella from Inksmith & Rogers. It was a long one, which is what led to the majority of it getting deleted, and it was with the entire Alley Cat crew as well, so at least they all got to share the memory. Ask 'em about it one day.

This week, though - we've got a killer podcast with a great guy from Colorado. Seth is a serious tattoo collector who was in Rocktown - V - A - to get tattooed by Alley Cat's very own Trevor Smith, who makes an appearance on this episode. As well as Jake Hockman, all hosted by Nick, of course. Seth tells some amazing stories about killer hip hop shows, working in tattoo shops and venues and travels all around the world. It's a great time, so check it out. We've learned our lesson and are back on the weekly track of serving you up killer podcasts.

Dec 7, 2021

For the first time in almost 300 episodes, NLJBS did not appear Tuesday morning as usual. We had an issue with part of the recent episode getting deleted and we're in the process of recovering it. Hopefully it'll come to you tomorrow. Check Nick's social media to hear more. Thanks for listening!

Nov 30, 2021

Day after Thanksgiving in Clifton Forge is what you're hearing this week, folks. And we've got two returning guests for you. Mary Jane travelled down to hang out with Nick in the place he grew up and cousin Dewayne showed up again for it. There's a whole ton of whiskey talk and lots of huntin' stories and everything else you might expect if you've heard these guys before. There's even a brief appearance by our sister Larami which is pretty wild. That's all we've got for you this time, so enjoy the hangout and the  bullshit. We'll keep bringin' it to ya.

Nov 23, 2021

If you know anything at all about Nick and about this show, then you're sure to have picked up on the fact that one of the things Nick is extremely passionate about is cooking. From only eating buttered noodles as a child to preparing killer meals for friends and family constantly, your host is all about creating some culinary masterpieces. This week's guest is special as she shares some high quality information about her cooking methods and the conversation goes way deep into all kinds of culinary awesomeness. Sarah Rennie came up to Elkton to hang out and talk about all of these things with Nick. You can check out some of her food and methods by lookin' up Two Fire Table on IG where you can get a taste of what she's got going on. Nick met Sarah through her husband, tattooer Mike Rennie from Absolute Art who you can find on a very early episode of the show. Enjoy the food talk. It's delicious.

Nov 16, 2021

Veteran regulars of the show, Old Heavy Hands - Nate Hall and his crew - were recording in northern NC at an infamous studio called the Fidelitorium and it was an amazing experience to go there and see and hear everything. The guys weren't at Legacy Irons Tattoo in Greensboro so that they could be there laying down an album, and on this evening: hanging out with Nick and feelin' good and telling all kinds of crazy tales and events. It's a hilarious and fun time right out of the gate. Not a long one, but a damn good one, y'all.

Nov 9, 2021

If you're up to date and heard the Made to Last and Mac Bibby episodes, you know that Nick went down to Florida for a few days and this episode gets into why that happened. There's a bit of a hum in the background of this one because Nick recorded it while traveling down the highway with his brother, Josh. Long time listeners of the show, though, probably aren't going to mind because this episode is kind of the second half of the story of an early episode called 'Florida' that is mentioned on here quite a bit. You see, this road trip came about as Nick and Josh travel down to pick up the remains of their estranged father to bring them back to the mountains of VA. This is the story explaining that. So fasten your seatbelt. It's a weird one.

Nov 2, 2021

Of course on a road trip that takes Nick through Jacksonville, he's definitely going to stop in and see his great friend Angelo and all the guys in the Inksmith & Rogers crew. And as luck would have it, the one and only Mac Bibby was around and Nick had the privelage of sitting down and hearing about his long and crazy journey from the good ol' days up until his time in Jax. And what a trip it is. You are going to absolutely dig the stories that are laid down in this episode. Such a trove of tattoo history and art history surrounding the tattoo industry even before Mac got into the game. You don't want to miss these tales. You'll hear a bit from Angelo and some of the other guys, but it's all about Mac, so check it out.

Oct 26, 2021

Nick and Josh took a road trip from VA down to FL and the first stop on those travels was Charlotte, NC where Nick sat down with Chris Stewart and several of the other artists who make up Made To Last Tattoo. Located in a beautiful old building downtown, MTL is an amazing shop with a great history and you get to hear all about it on this episode as well as plenty of great old tattooing tales. All of the gentlemen at Made To Last are fun and interesting, so don't miss this one. Thanks for listening.

Oct 19, 2021

Having traveled to Richmond to record with Katie last week, Nick stops by the renowned High Point Barber Shop to talk with one of the owners, David Foster. Having only met in passing prior to this, Nick and Foster hit it off like old friends and when you hear the conversation you'll know why. High Point is not your average barber shop. It's more like going to a tattoo shop and working with artists because, well - you are. They keep tattoo flash on the walls and you'll definitely see plenty of tattoos on the barbers themselves by Brian Bruno and other tattoo legends. It's just a great episode all around and you won't be disappointed with the comraderie evident throughout it and the stories that get told. Sit down, relax and enjoy the cut.

Oct 12, 2021

Nick hit the road again to record a few episodes for all you bullshitters and kicks things off with a great conversation with Katie Davis of Salvation Tattoo Gallery in Richmond, VA. Katie's man, Fred Pinckard, was just at the Alley Cat Tattoo 20th Anniversary celebration and not only attended, but his company Alliance Tattoo Supply provided supplies for a gathering of some of the best tattoo artists in the world that weekend. When Fred and Nick talked about some of the amazing work Katie has going on, he knew he had to sit down with her. Katie is presenting an amazing show where local Richmond artists provided ceramic pieces that tattooers then painted on before they were glazed and fired. It sounds like an amazing show, just like this one. The Shop Talks aren't back yet, but hang in there with us and enjoy the talk.

Oct 5, 2021

Chris Porter - Master P - Chrissy Big Tats is back on the show and kickin' it live with Nick to bring you the deep discussions and flavorful retellings that you are here for. Yes, it has been a week or two since the big Alley Cat Tattoo Twentieth Anniversary event and you're gonna get some great insight into that celebration from the front lines and behind the scenes. We all had a great time, but these two will hit you with some of the intensity and emotionality of the seriousness of how amazing the weekend really was from all perspectives.

That's most of what's going on here and you don't want to miss a minute of it. We're all still recovering from things, so there's still no Shop Talk attached to this episode, but hang in all the way until the end of this one for an inebriated, but celebrated announcement from the tat duo, the brothers of bullshit, the tattoo boy wonder and industry johnny carson themselves after killing an innocent bottle in front of us all. You're gonna wanna hear it. Have fun. Take care.

Sep 28, 2021

It's a perfect time to have Mr. Perfect on the podcast once again. Coming off the amazing twentieth anniversary weekend of Alley Cat Tattoo, Eric Perfect comes by the shop to hang out and talk some crazy tattoo tales with Nick. He brought along his son and apprentice to knock out some killer tattoos for the public while it all went down. Mr. Andrew Conner joins the conversation as well to fill in the gaps for our host.

There will be more about the 20th in a future episode, but thank you to everyone involved in making it a truly special event. And thanks to Eric for swinging by afterward to keep it comin'!

Sep 21, 2021

Just before the big Alley Cat Tattoo Twentieth Anniversary Celebration in Rocktown - Harrisonburg, V.A. - Nick got a visit from a good friend Evan and his brother Corey from back in the day. This is an episode of memories and stories and talkin' shit about cops and folks and just kickin' it for a damn long and entertaining bullshit session. If you're a fan of the show, you will be right at home in the setting of this one, and if you're new you're gonna hear about a wild place nestled in the mountains of Virginia and the cast of characters that populated it. Not much tattoo talk, but that ain't the only thing this is about. Enjoy y'all.

Sep 14, 2021

It has been a while, but Joe Capobianco is back on the podcast to hang out with Nick to drink some whiskey, unload some stories and tell it like it is about quite a few things. When these two get conversin' it just doesn't slow down until it's over. Tons of tattoo history talk here and lots of discussion about the way things were and how they're goin' now. Alley Cat's very own Trevor Smith is hanging around for a good long bit of the first half, then the man across the way from him, Mr. Richie Stutler sits in on the tail end. A great time is had by all, leading right into the big Alley Cat Tattoo Twentieth Anniversary Celebration. Hell yeah.

Sep 7, 2021

Now that we're right up in the celebrations of Alley Cat Tattoo's twentieth anniversary, Nick recorded with someone who was there right at the beginning while he was visiting Richmond. Keith is a long time friend of the shop and was around when things were just kickin' off. You get to hear about some of the old days when there was a quite different crew and the barber shop next door was still swingin' and Chris "Big Tats" Porter went by a different nickname and was still a fresh faced starter learnin' from Nick and Keith and all the other characters around back in the day. It's a great time, so give it a listen.

Aug 31, 2021

Jason Hobbie returns after a million years ago having done an episode of NLJBS. In that legendary first one, the discussion focused a lot on his time coming up in Roanoke, VA and then several other shops, but stopped just short of opening Absolute Art in Richmond. So does this one pick up the timeline there? NO! We're livin' in the now on this one and hanging out with the crew of Jason's other shop: Classic Tattoo. We've got with us Charlie Jones, Zach Hendrickson and Rylee Jennings to talk about all things tattooing in Richmond and a peek behind the curtain of the elusive wizard of Richmond tattooing that is Jason Hobbie. Nick keeps it moving and starts us off with a killer intro talking about the 20th Anniversary of the home of No Lies Just Bullshit, Alley Cat Tattoo in Harrisonburg, VA. Hell. Yes.

Aug 24, 2021

Back in the early days of the podcast, we were honored to have sat down for a while with one of the old school tattooers down in Richmond. Frank Mills, rest in peace, had us over at his place to hang out and see some old stuff and hear some old tales. Mr. David Boysno and the one and only George Archer joined us in this discussion. You'll hear all about how this happened and some of the unusual things you can expect when you sit down to listen to this, but just know that this was back when we first started the show. We had no idea yet what we were doing, and our equipment spoke to that fact. And in addition to everything you'll hear Nick say about what went on back then, the file also inexplicably cuts off right in the middle of a good Frank story. So this is it, finally repaired and  though it's not much and it's not complete, it's a piece of tattoo history that we hope you'll all enjoy.

Aug 17, 2021

The boys are back at it again in Clifton Forge. Nick was in the town he grew up in again for a family trip and though he was just on here, Dewayne returns to No Lies Just Bullshit for even more shenanigans. This time the Boar's Nest is fully operational and the guys waste no time filling it with cigar smoke, bourbon-fueled tales and brotherly bullshit. I won't waste any more of your time. If you heard him on here a few weeks ago, you're gonna wanna jump on in to this episode with Dewayne and Nick. Enjoy.

Aug 10, 2021

It's that time of year for the busiest tattooer on the East Coast to take a little vacation with his wife and child, so when Mr. Chris Porter hits the surf and sand, he gets excellent tattooers to fill in for him. This week you get to hear from one of these gentlemen: Jason McGarry to be exact, comin' at ya all the way from Three Rivers Tattoo in Pittsburg, PA. Alley Cat's very own Richie Stutler and Jake Hockman join Nick in the conversation with Jason and everyone involved tells some great stories and deep thoughts on the tattoo industry and how killer it is that we're all where we are today. Richie and Jason worked together in the past, so you'll hear some fun insider bullshit on this one, folks. Enjoy.

Aug 3, 2021

Foster is a legend down in Roanoke, VA where Nick used to live and they've been friends for a good, long time. He's played in a bunch of different bands and some of them were with Brian Gray, who used to tattoo at Alley Cat. Well, Nick and Foster get into all kinds of good stories about music and partyin' and all the things you love to listen to on this show. He even throws down a few tunes on here and they're great. Right now you can catch Foster around Roanoke and branching out to some other places with his bands The Mad Iguanas, Gote, the Isaac Hadden Project and Dead Reckoning. Always a good show and always a good time.

Jul 27, 2021

Long time fans of the show are getting to know Uncle Dave very well by now. Always down for a great conversation covering a wide range of topics, Uncle Dave and Nick have been friends for almost twenty years and you can hear it in the stories. This one is no different, my friends. You know what to expect, and if you don't - then kick back, grab a drink and enjoy.

Jul 20, 2021

If you've listened to NLJBS long enough, you've heard mention of ol' Dewayne here. Cousin to Nick through the Nicely family by way of the VanNess family, this is someone who grew up with the host of your favorite podcast and raised all kinds o' hell with him. There's quite a few of those stories packed in here as well as a whole hell of a lot of reminiscing about family you've heard on here and definitely heard a bunch about on here. So yeah, if you're a fan of the stories about Clifton Forge - that small, kinda backwoods railroad town that Nick spins many a yarn about on this show then you're really gonna get a kick out of this one. Thanks for checkin' it out and thanks for listeining!

Jul 13, 2021

It's a big crew hangout podcast this time y'all. NLJBS veteran Mr. John Glessner was tattooing at Alley Cat and havin' a good old time. Andrew was working on Mark's back some more so Taylor got tattoed as well. Mark was on the show not too long ago. And nearby hair stylist (the Honeycomb in Charlottesville) Anna Comarovschi was getting tattooed as well so she joined in. This led to a lot of tattoo stories that weave in and out of this crew as well as some killer talk about the Harrisonburg and Roanoke music scenes. A great time was had by all. No Shop Talk yet, but this one's a real long one to make up for it. Enjoy y'all.
