Having done a few episodes of the show in the past, it has been a long while since we have heard from master wet-on-wet painter extraordinaire Mr. Andy Sherman. Well, he recently popped by the NLJBS studios to hang out with Nick and discuss all kind o' stuff. Classic food, music, art and country life stuff that we all love about these dudes. It's a great one you won't want to miss, especially since we're about to hit you with three straight tattoo greats in a row after this. Keep listening.
Back in the city again, Nick got the opportunity to record the room at King's Ave in New York for the release of the new book by Tribal Publishing called "In the Shadows" about the history of underground NY tattooing and all of the people and stories around it. Hosted by Patrick Kitzel of Tribal, this event was attended by a who's who of the tattoo world. Nick was able to record a few guests before capturing the speakers who talked about some of what went into the creation of the book. Clayton Knowles was the man who put it all together and you get to hear some of his thoughts, as well as Mehi Bakaty who has done some amazing work documenting tattoo history. It's a great one with some crazy sounds in the background, but worth the listen. Plus, there's a Shop Talk with Porter & Andrew and you can never go wrong hangin' with the boys.
All the way from Petaluma Tattoo in California near San Francisco, Mr. Nick Rodin stops by Alley Cat Tattoo to hang out and record an episode with Nick. It's a lot of fun to hear all the stories between these two.
It's another call-in episode, this time with special guests Porter & Kate. More great stories and questions this week. Keep 'em comin'!
After a wild trip to Civilization Tattoo in Richmond recently that led to an as of yet unreleased podcast, Nick told the guys that they better do somethin' to redeem themselves. Well, Mr. Jon Sanford stepped up to the plate and came up to Alley Cat to record and the one and only Adam Martin came with him to tattoo and also join in on the fun about two thirds of the way through. It's a fun one with a ton of tattoo talk. Take it in y'all.
You know what it its. Call Nick on the Hotline and get featured on the show. It's a great time. What could go wrong?
While in Richmond to visit Absolute Art, Nick got the chance to sit down with Chad Chesko for this episode. Jason Hobbie, Brian Bruno and Jake Hockman are hanging out as well, and for a good portion of the conversation, Chad is tattooing Jake and you can definitely hear it. Hopefully, it'll just make it feel like you're hanging out at the shop with them and it won't bother you. It is pretty loud, though. The talk is worth it, though. So check it out and enjoy.
It's another edition of Hotline on NLJBS with Nick and some great stories and a surprise old school voice you won't want to miss. Check it out.
While in NY on one of his trips to seek out killer podcasts for all of the NJLBS listeners, Nick was once again hanging out at King's Ave and got know this week's guest, Mr. Ben Proudman. Well, Ben made it down to Alley Cat from up in Frederick, MD and got to hang out in the NLJBS studios and have a wild and interesting conversation with Nick about all kinds of things, some of them involving tattoos, of course. It's a great time and it's followed up with yet another awesome Shop Talk with your friends Andrew and Porter. Enjoy.
Thanks to everyone who called in this time for the 5th installment of the NLJBS Hotline and shared their tattoo shop stories. Also, Nick lets us know who the winner of the quick contest is. Enjoy.
Though she tattoos at Mercy in Salt Lake City these days, Marina always spends time back in VA at Absolute Art in Richmond and that's where Nick had a chance to catch up with the world travelling killer tattoo artist. It's a great episode detailing lots of great tattoo talk centering around Marina's travels and the great artists she's had the pleasure of working with before transitioning into the powerful journey that she recently embarked on and everything involved in that experience with some crazy surprises thrown in. It's an all around great episode followed up by an excellent new edition of Shop Talk. Don't miss it.
Friend of the show and the shop and excellent tattooer Drake came to the NLJBS studios at Alley Cat Tattoo in Harrisonburg VA to hang out with Nick and Alley Cat's Jake Hockman and shoot the shit for a while. It's time once again to play a few messages from the ol' Hotline. There are some great ones this time. It really is becoming a great way to quickly share your tattoo stories forever without sitting down to record a several hours episode. Give it a try. You'll like it. Or just reply, repute or reimagine one you've already heard on here. The sky's the limit on Hotline. Enjoy.
Longtime friend of the show and Alley Cat, Mr. Alex Lee hangs with Nick for a few hours and a few drinks as they bust out some of the classic stories of the last twenty years or so in Harrisonburg and even throw in a few new ones. The discussion kicks off with some fun whiskey talk. It's a great time, so enjoy.
It's been a while, so Uncle Dave dropped by the NLJBS studios for a little welfare check on ya homie Nick. And man, what a hangout this is. More old school stories reminiscing about the past in lockup and out of it. Music, friendship, family, and lots of talk about words you should and shouldn't say. This is just a good ol' time hanging out with some cool ass folks. You don't want to miss it. No Shop Talk this time due to lots goin' on, but we had a nice run there tryin' to get it kickstarted again. We'll talk tats with you again soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the wisdom of Uncle Dave.
This is a detailed layin' down of the stories around the most recent two trips to NYC that Nick took, one with Chris "Big Tats" Porter and the other with Jake "Rookie" Hockman. It's a big long hangout detailing all of the characters and locations that were visited on these two recent epic travels and all of the mystery and history surrounding them. Just a fun hangout at the NLJBS studios located right next door to the one and only Alley Cat Tattoo in Harrisonburg, Virginia. There's a killer shop talk attached as well and throughout these kickass three hours or more you'll also get to hear from the workhorse Richie Stutler and the man who needs no introduction: Andrew Conner. Hell yeah. Enjoy this shit.
